How to turn off Ask Gemini in Chrome search bar

For many people, adding AI options to the search bar makes the interface more cluttered. Therefore, many people want to disable Ask Gemini in the Chrome search bar.

Google has integrated Gemini directly into the Chrome browser , allowing users to quickly access AI features right from the address bar. With Ask Gemini, users can search for information, ask questions, or get AI support with just a few simple taps. However, not everyone finds this feature truly necessary during browser use.

For many people, adding AI options to the search bar makes the interface more cluttered. Therefore, many want to disable Ask Gemini in the Chrome search bar. In this article, you will learn how to disable Ask Gemini in the Chrome search bar.

Step 1:

On the Chrome interface, go to Settings , then in the new interface, click on Search on the left side.

Step 2:

Switch to the sidebar and click on Manage search engines and search features on the website, as shown below.

In the new interface, scroll down to the "Search on website" section to adjust the search bar in your Chrome browser.

Step 3:

In Gemini, we click on the three-dot icon and then click on Deactivate to stop using Gemini in the Chrome search bar.

If you want to reactivate it , under the "Inactive Shortcuts" section in Gemini , simply click " Activate ".

Disabling Chat with Gemini does not affect Chrome's normal operation. Users can still access Gemini through its dedicated website at any time. This feature only removes the Gemini access shortcut from the address bar and does not change the browser's default search engine.
