How to fix Windows 10 failure to update error KB5003173
More specifically, the installation of cumulative update KB5003173 failed with error code 0x800f0922. A recent report revealed that what can cause the installation of the KB5003173 cumulative update to fail is a change related to Microsoft Edge.
Microsoft has released a new Chromium-based browser to replace the old one in Windows 10 set as the default browser. Last month, cumulative updates shipped as part of the Patch Tuesday cycle removed the Edge Legacy browser and the Chromium implementation.
As it turns out, the KB5003173 cumulative update failed to install if users removed the new Edge browser from their devices.

How to fix
You need to open File Explorer and check if the following folder exists on your computer:
C:Program Files (x86)MicrosoftEdge
If the folder exists, it's a remnant of Edge powered by Chromium and it needs to be removed from your computer. Then you restart the device before checking Windows Update again.
Alternatively, you can just install the Chromium browser on your device, so you deploy all the right folders and prepare your computer for the new cumulative update.
Microsoft hasn't updated the list of issues yet, so the above solution is the only fix you can do.
