How to customize message notifications on macOS Sierra
Unlike the messaging application on iPhone, iPad, Mac users here macOS Sierra can customize more settings with the Message application, such as changing the notification interface, choosing how to notify , how to display the message, . With these settings options, we can change the message notification to make it easier to work. In this article, we will guide the basic steps to be able to manually adjust message notifications on macOS Sierra.
Step 1:
First of all, we click on the Apple icon on the machine interface. Next, click the System Preferences item.
Step 2:
In the System Preferences interface, navigate to the Notifications section.
Step 3:
In this new interface, in the application list on the left, we click on the Message application . Looking to the right interface will be the setting for the messaging application.
In the Messages alert style section, select the notification type on the screen interface when a new message arrives with the following options:
- Banner type : the message will appear from the top right corner of the screen and automatically turn off.
- Alerts style : notification will appear on the screen until you turn it off.
- None : no notice board appears.
Step 4:
Next to the options below, we only need to tick or uncheck the options that do not want to be set up.
With Show Message Preview there will be 2 options, including Always (Always show content) and When Unlocked (When not locked, you can view the content). Depending on how you want to display the message content preview, select such a setting.
Ideally to avoid accidental messages being seen by others, users should check the When Unlocked option. So when the computer is in lock mode, when a new message arrives, the content will not appear but only the notification.
Step 5:
With the last 3 options we select or uncheck the box with the following adjustment:
- Show in Notification Center : click on the arrow to change the amount of latest information allowed to display in the notification bar.
- Badge app icon : announces the app's icon .
- Background for Notifications : interface for notifications.
Depending on the need to use and the convenience of each person when using the messaging application Messages we adjust the notification options accordingly. Besides, users can change the settings with other applications in Notifications interface with the same way as the Messages application on macOS Sierra.
