How to Change the Cursor Icon to the Hand on Word

This guide explains how to change the Cursor Icon to the Hand on Word, with clear steps, practical tips, and important checks before you begin.

Instructions for displaying a hand icon in Word

Step 1:

At Word interface, click on the drop down arrow icon and select More Commands in the displayed list.

Step 2:

Switch to the new interface, users look down to Choose commands from, select Commands Not In The Ribbon in the drop down list.

Then look down below we find the Panning Hand tool and click Add to add the Quick access toolbar.

Step 3:

Return to the Word interface, we will see the hand icon displayed. Click the icon to switch to hand icon. To return to the old mouse pointer icon, press the hand icon again or press the Esc key.

To use, click and hold the left mouse button and then move the icon to any position to scroll up and down the Word interface.

Note the hand icon is only available on Word, OneNote and Outlook.
