Handling iPhone speakers if accidentally fall into the water

Most of the new iPhone models are equipped with waterproof features. However, if you accidentally drop the device into water, swimming pool, bath tub, soaking in water still causes some impact on the quality of the device's speakers.

To counter this situation, a user, nicknamed Josh0678, created a utility called Water Eject, which functions like a "tool that pushes water away from iPhone speakers".

Essentially, the Water Eject works by emitting a loud bass sound, which causes the driver to vibrate. This allows small droplets to be splashed out of the device, instead of infiltrating inside and damaging the device.

With just a few simple steps below, you can manually install and run this utility in case the phone gets into the water.

Step 1: First, we need to download the Shortcut app (Shortcut) for iOS 12 and above.

Step 2: Next, download the Water Eject utility, then press the "Get Shorcut" button on your device.

Step 3: After you have added the Water Eject shortcut to the Shortcut application, you can see the Water Eject shortcut appears in the application tray. If desired, we can bring it out to the main screen via the "Add to Home Screen" option.

If the device unfortunately falls into water, we just need to run this application and witness the water droplets being pushed out of the speaker on the iPhone. However, it should be noted that this method is only applicable to models with IP68 water resistance such as iPhone X, 8, 8 Plus or higher or IP67 standards for iPhone 7, 7 Plus.
