Google Safe Folders, 'secret storage room' for Android users to hide private information
On Microsoft One Driver, users can store confidential and sensitive information into Personal Vault. And now, Android users will soon be able to do the same thing with a feature called Safe Folders in the File app.
Currently, Google is in the process of finalizing Safe Folders, it is unclear when it will be officially launched to users. Safe Folders is protected by a 4-digit pin code set by the user. Normally it will be hidden and can only be accessed by a special method.
Safe Folders is located inside the File applicationAccording to Google, the data inside Safe Folders is guaranteed to be at the highest level of safety. You will not be able to access without a pin code. This means you will lose that data if you accidentally forget the pin. When you delete or reinstall the File application, the data you store in Safe Folders will also be lost.
This feature was discovered by XDA-Developers developers while "dissecting" the source code of the File application version 1.0.315. Although this is a useful feature, the fact that 4-digit pin code is not appreciated for the security power.
"The 4-digit pin code is quite weak, so you should only use Safe Folders to keep confidential documents from prying eyes of your wife or children in the house, not use it to bypass the FBI" , MS PowerUser page received humorously.
