Google Chrome on Android has just been updated, doubling the page loading speed, saving up to 90% data usage
Recently, the Data Saver function on Chrome Android has been updated by Google to ensure it works well with HTTPS pages. In addition, Chrome has added a new feature called "Lite Pages", a minimal page type for times when connection speeds are too slow.
When the Data Saver feature is enabled, it can help speed up the loading speed of web pages twice, and reduce the data usage rate in Chrome by 90%. Data Saver does that by compressing web pages before downloading them on the device. After that, it will work almost the same when this feature is disabled.
However, the new Lite page format will only appear when the phone has a slow connection with an equal speed of 2G. Specifically, when having trouble loading pages, Chrome on Android will display the Lite version. A message will appear on the URL bar for users to know. If you do not want to use the Lite version, users can click on it to reload the regular version of the page. If Chrome detects that users often choose to download the original page, it will automatically disable Lite.
To turn on Data Saver of Chrome on Android, open your browser -> click on the dot at the top right -> select Settings (Settings) -> select Data saver (Data Saver) -> here, you slide the slider to On (On).
