Warning: Chrome 79 for Android has data deletion errors, users should not update
Chrome 79 for Android has an error that caused data loss in some Android applications to affect user experience, forcing Google to stop updating.
Specifically, Android applications programmed to access its WebView service will be deleted by the Chrome 79 update (data), which they must reload as the first time. This is because Chrome 79 has changed the location where the web data is stored.
This error causes applications that contain important user data to be deleted, causing great impact.
Google confirmed the issue and decided to suspend Chrome update service version 79 for Android phones. But according to statistics, since its release until now, there have been about 2.5 billion Android users worldwide, about 50% of the device has updated to Chrome 79.
If you've updated to Chrome 79, please uninstall and return to the original version installed by Chrome by going to Settings -> find Application Management -> click the Chrome icon -> click Uninstall update. Then, you visit CH Play to update Chrome 78.
It is not clear what Google will decide to do to fix this problem and when will continue to update to the new version of Chrome.
