Edison Mail on iOS has a vulnerability that gives strangers full control over email
The new Edision Mail bug has the potential to leave a random stranger with full and uncontrolled access to your email.
Edision Mail claims to be the best email client for Apple platforms and the company has launched a new synchronization feature for its iOS app. But this application is currently experiencing serious security errors.
The developers of Edison Mail insisted it was just a common mistake. They launched a new feature last Friday that allows users to manage their mail accounts on all Apple devices. Unfortunately, that error randomly allowed others to access those email accounts, allowing them to do whatever they wanted. In this case, everyone will suddenly have privacy over all email that has been received and sent by the user, emails with passwords and personal information.
Currently this error only affects users of iOS apps. The developer also said it affected only a small portion of those users but later revealed that the number was about 6,480 users.
Edison Mail reported that they fixed the error and contacted the affected users. The company requires users to change their password immediately to ensure personal information.
