Claude launches powerful file editor: surpassing ChatGPT and Gemini

Claude is currently one of the most prominent AI assistants on the market, behind only big names like ChatGPT, Gemini, and Copilot. Claude's technology platform is so powerful that Apple is reportedly considering partnering with Anthropic to integrate Claude into the next generation of Siri. And while that hasn't come to fruition, Claude has just released a series of new tools that allow users to create and edit a variety of file formats, from Word, Excel to PDF.

Specifically, claude can now create and edit files according to your requirements. Users only need to provide data or descriptions in natural language, this AI chatbot will automatically convert into Excel (.xlsx), PowerPoint (.pptx), Word (.docx), or PDF files.

Additionally, Claude supports uploading various types of data such as CSV, TSV and converting them into the desired format with necessary edits. It can even create charts, graphs, illustrations if needed. However, the current limit for uploading and downloading files is 30MB.

Claude can also convert formats (from Word to PowerPoint, for example) or extract data from PDFs. This feature is currently in beta, available to Max, Team, and Enterprise users on the web and desktop.

The real power lies in the editing capabilities

If you're just creating documents, Google's Gemini can do that too, allowing you to export reports to Docs with a single click, for example. But Claude goes one step further by allowing you to edit files directly without opening them.

You just need to enter a prompt like:

'Change everything from ABC to XYZ, convert USD to EUR, and change the Manager title to Executive.'

Claude will process everything at once, preserving the original formatting of Word, PDF, Excel or PowerPoint.

Anthropic boasts: 'Word, PDF, Excel and PowerPoint files will retain their original formatting while being edited in a single pass.' This makes document editing much faster and less tedious.

Notably, Microsoft has also taken notice of the technology. According to The Information, the company has signed a deal with Anthropic to include Claude in some features of the Office 365 suite.
