Apple's new measure discourages iPhone thieves

This involves iPhone repair activities, specifically the use of used or second-hand components when repairing iPhones. Among the new features, they include a very important change: components will be blocked when the iPhone is stolen.

Currently, if a user is the victim of a theft or loses their phone, they can remotely lock their iPhone to make it completely unusable. However, iPhone thefts continue to occur to sell their components and use them on other devices.

Apple's new measure aims to prevent that as the company will implement a new protection called Activation Lock. With this measure, iPhone components that have been reported stolen or lost cannot be used on another device.

In its statement, Apple said: 'During the repair process, if the device detects that a compatible component comes from a product that has enabled Activation Lock or Lost Mode, calibration options for that component will be limited. mechanism.

In other words, when a user reports a lost (or stolen) iPhone from the Apple platform, using the same Apple ID on the mobile device, the system will block the iPhone from being able to be used and will also block the use of its components. In theory, this makes iPhone theft less meaningful.

Blocking stolen iPhone components is part of a series of new iPhone repair measures from Apple. The company will allow the use of used parts when repairing iPhones as long as they meet certain conditions: the parts must be compatible and they must be obtained legally, meaning they cannot come from a stolen iPhone.
