In order to enhance security against the risk of attack and theft of accounts, Instagram has allowed users to use Facebook's third-party authentication application to authenticate two factors.
Currently, users can choose applications from third parties to authenticate two elements for Instagram if they do not like using phone numbers.
To register to authenticate two Instagram elements using a third-party application, users access Settings -> find two-factor Authentication -> enable Authentication Application. At that time, Instagram will find an application with built-in third-party authentication functions such as Authy or Google Authenticator or if not installed, it will give suggestions to users.
Successfully connected, the authentication code will appear and every minute will change once. In case the user account is logged on an unknown device, Instagram will ask for this code to authenticate.
According to some experts, two-factor authentication by phone number is not really safe because your phone may take any time.
