AirPods Pro adds a series of new features: Voice isolation, Siri interaction, personalized surround sound and more

On the WWDC 2024 event stage, Apple announced a series of notable changes and additions for VisionOS, iOS, iPadOS, macOS and other platforms in the Apple ecosystem.

Although it receives less attention, there is a product line that has also been updated by Apple with many notable new features: AirPods Pro.

Features that will be added include Siri Interactions, Voice Isolation, and Personalized Spatial Audio.

First, with Siri Interactions, Airpods wearers only need to do a few simple nods or head shakes to respond to Siri privately. These gestures will correspond to each specific task, such as interacting with messages, managing notifications, receiving calls, etc. All can be customized as desired.

Apple says the Siri Interactions feature is powered by machine learning algorithms and the H2 chip, allowing you to use Siri without saying anything. This feature is especially suitable in cases where you are in a crowded or too private place, making it inconvenient to interact with Siri or iPhone by voice.

Next is Voice Isolation. This feature is designed to improve call quality in noisy environments and is currently compatible with AirPods Pro (Gen 2). This feature can eliminate environmental noise, such as wind noise around the wearer, when AirPods Pro is paired with an iPhone, iPad, or Mac to make a call. Voice Isolation is now supported on Mac, iPhone, iPad, and works during FaceTime or regular phone calls.

Personalized Spatial Audio mode - as the name suggests - is designed to help AirPods 3rd Gen, AirPods Pro and AirPods Max users experience personalized Spatial Audio surround sound in games, music, and movies. according to your own 'taste'. In addition, this feature also allows to reduce latency to the lowest on the market (between the source and headphones), along with the ability to record 16-bit 48kHz audio via the microphone.

New AirPods features will be officially available next fall through software updates to AirPods. Members of the pple Developer Program can try it out using the AirPods developer beta update available now on Apple's website.
