Adobe launches AI assistant for Photoshop, editing photos with natural commands.

Adobe, the creative software company, has just announced that its AI assistant for Adobe Photoshop is now available to users in beta on the web and mobile apps. In addition, the company is adding more AI-based image editing tools to Adobe Firefly , its AI-powered content creation and editing platform.

Adobe first introduced its AI assistant for Photoshop at the Adobe MAX event last October. This feature allows users to perform various image editing tasks through simple voice commands.

Specifically, users can ask the AI to remove people or objects from photos, change colors, adjust lighting , or perform other edits simply by typing a description. Additionally, the AI assistant can understand commands in natural language, such as adding soft lighting effects, cropping photos to a specific format, increasing shadow depth, or changing the background to give the photo a new look.

Adobe announced that paying Photoshop users will have unlimited access to create AI-powered content with the assistant until April 9th. Meanwhile, free users will have 20 initial content creation attempts to experience the feature.

In addition to the AI assistant, Adobe is also publicly testing a new feature called AI Markup . This feature allows users to draw directly on the screen to mark areas that need editing, then ask the AI assistant to process them. For example, you can draw a flower to add detail to an image, or select an object to remove from the background.

Firefly has been enhanced with more AI editing tools.

In addition to Photoshop, Adobe has also upgraded its Firefly platform with a range of new AI-powered image editing tools.

One notable feature is Generative Fill , which has been present in Photoshop for several years. This tool allows users to add or replace objects in an image , while automatically adjusting the background to match.

In addition, Firefly has been enhanced with features such as Generative Remove to remove objects from photos, Generative Expand to enlarge image size using AI, and Generative Upscale to improve image resolution.

Adobe also added a one-click background removal tool , making it quicker to separate the subject from the background of an image.

As previously announced in February, Adobe has allowed Firefly users to create unlimited content, aiming to encourage greater use of the platform.

Additionally, Firefly now supports over 25 third-party AI image and video generation models, including technologies from Google, OpenAI, Runway, and Black Forest Labs.
