What to do if the AirPods get wet?
Whether owning a standard AirPods or waterproof AirPods Pro, you need to dry them carefully whenever they're wet. Make sure you dry your AirPods before returning them to the charging case to avoid damaging the case.
What to do if the AirPods get wet from water?
If the AirPods get wet, wipe off any excess water with a dry, lint-free cloth. It is best to use a microfiber cloth for this or use a cotton swab to dry the small ports.
Then leave the AirPods outside for at least 2 hours to allow them to air dry. Do not use them during this time and if possible, let AirPods dry overnight. The best places to put AirPods are in cool, dry places with light airflow.
You should not put your AirPods into a bag of rice to dry them. This method does not bring any effect than air drying, but can also cause rice grains to be trapped in ports and holes.
You should also avoid extremely hot or cold temperatures. Do not place AirPods on a heater or use a dryer to blow. Doing so can easily cause your AirPods to overheat and damage the internal circuitry.
If you wet the AirPods charging case, remove the AirPods and place the cover upside down, and open the lid to let it dry. Again, you should allow at least a few hours for the skin to dry.
What to do if you spill anything other than water on your AirPods?
Different liquids can damage the AirPod in different ways. Solvents or cosmetics can affect the water resistance of AirPods, soda forms sticky residues that clog speakers, coffee can contaminate white plastic shells, and seawater can cause salt deposits to dry out.
If you spill anything other than clean water on the AirPods, wipe the headphones with a damp cloth to remove them before letting the AirPods air dry. When using a damp cloth, be careful not to get extra liquid into the AirPods.
If you still cannot remove this liquid, try other ways to clean up AirPods.
How to avoid water damage for AirPods?
If your AirPods get wet, there's no guarantee they will continue to work even if you follow the instructions above to dry them out. Sometimes, water affects the AirPods immediately, other times, it will slowly leak electrical circuits over weeks or months.
Whatever happens, you will have to withdraw your wallet to replace AirPods if they stop working. Apple does not cover water damage under the warranty, even for waterproof AirPods Pro.
Follow these additional tips to keep your AirPods as safe as possible:

- Keep AirPods away from places where people put drinks
- Check the bag carefully before putting clothes in to wash
- Keep AirPods in the charging case when you are not using them
