Recently, Twitter has uploaded a tweet on its official account, asking users of this social network to change the password immediately to avoid the risk of information leakage due to a serious security error.
According to Twitter, the company uses a process called hashing to hide passwords and uses the bcrypt function to replace the user's password with a random set of numbers and letters and store it in the system. Twitter.
But due to an error in the system, the user's password has been written to the internal log before completing the hashing process. This means that the user's password will be revealed if someone can access these logs.
Immediately after detecting this error, Twitter immediately proceeded to fix it by removing the password and deploying plans to prevent this error from re-appearing. The company also said the ability to reveal passwords in this case is very low. After checking the system, Twitter has yet to detect any intrusion but to ensure safety and to avoid possible bad situations, the company still calls users to change the password immediately.
