Office Scripts with the ability to automate routine tasks in Excel is now available on the web
Microsoft has officially announced that the Office Scripts feature is now supporting Excel on the web for all eligible users. To use, you just need to click on the Automate tab on the menu bar.
Example: Let's say your workday starts with opening .csv files from the accounting page in the Excel sheet. Then you have to spend a few minutes deleting unnecessary columns, formatting the table, adding formulas, and creating a PivotTable in a new worksheet. These tasks are not difficult but daily repetition is very time consuming and boring.
For automation, you only need to record repetitive daily actions with the Action Recoder feature once. Next, you use Office Scripts to set up performing those actions daily or hourly depending on business needs.
Automating repetitive actions saves you time and effort and avoids forgetting steps. In addition, Microsoft allows you to share automation processes with others without having to teach them how.
All users with Microsoft 356 educational or commercial licenses with access to Microsoft 365 Office desktop applications will have access to the Office Scripts feature.
In fact, Office Scripts launched in 2019 on the Excel application with the ability to create scripts to automate repetitive tasks. You can even combine Office Scripts with Power Automate to create a complete day-to-day workflow between multiple Windows applications.
