Compared to Windows, Linux is considered a secure operating system, less vulnerable to attacks. But Kaspersky said there are still many cases of malicious code appearing on Linux, most recently the XZ Utils backdoor.

KVRT is a standalone scanner and not a real-time protection tool. To search for malware, it scans system memory, boot objects, boot sectors, and all files in the operating system. Infected files will be placed in quarantine for processing.

To detect the latest threats, the antivirus database this tool uses is regularly updated. Therefore, to ensure effective scanning, users need to download a new update every time they use it.

KVRT is compatible with many popular Linux distributions such as Red Hat Enterprise Linux, CentOS, Linux Mint, Ubuntu, SUSE, openSUSE, Debian and even distributions not on the support list.
