Microsoft confirmed Skype has been optimized for older Android devices
Great news for Skype users who own older Android devices, Microsoft has just announced that the application has been optimized to work smoothly on Android devices 4.0.3 to 5.1.
The new version of Skype has a smaller capacity and uses less memory, thus enabling faster speeds and better audio and video quality on older Android devices. Furthermore, Microsoft promises that a lighter version of Skype will bring higher performance even in areas with "challenging network conditions".
It seems that Microsoft will begin deploying the update in the next few days, but it will probably take several weeks for this Skype update to reach all regions of the world. So if you don't see the update on your Android device, don't worry and be patient.
