Amazon boss deployed delivery service to compete with UPS and FedEx
Proving its boundless e-commerce business ambition, Amazon announced that it will start delivering orders directly from business partners to customers.
This new delivery service will be called Shipping with Amazon, according to a report in the Wall Street Journal. The service will start in Los Angeles and then expand elsewhere.
Delivery service will put Amazon in direct competition with the two most important partners: FedEx and UPS. Neither company has made much comment on this story, and Amazon has not officially confirmed its plan.
This Amazon business idea starts by distributing goods from third-party sellers on Amazon's platform to customers. Then the service will be expanded to include businesses not on Amazon's website.
Amazon has developed its role in the field of logics for many years: building a large number of distribution centers, acquiring Whole Foods, providing Prime Now service, providing specific items in just a few hours and experiment with unmanned aircraft delivery. Technology experts also noted that Amazon has invested in shipping operations, even creating its own air transport center.
However, creating a nationwide distribution network to compete with FedEx and UPS networks will require a large investment.
The Journal said Amazon also wanted to "tighten" its competitors in terms of prices, a sign that the company was willing to spend money for years to achieve profits.
