Is this the time to give Firefox another chance?

Previously, what made Chrome more prominent was speed and simplicity, especially when Firefox seemed to be slow and heavier after each update. But things have changed, it's time to give Firefox a second chance.

If you're like me, you've switched to Chrome as your default browser for many years without having to think about other options. Before that, you must have used Firefox, or Internet Explorer. Previously, what made Chrome more prominent was speed and simplicity, especially when Firefox seemed to be slow and heavier after each update. But things have changed, it's time to give Firefox a second chance.

Earlier this week, Mozilla released the first beta of Firefox 57. It doesn't sound very important, but version 57 is Firefox's most important release for years. That is the result of many improvements that users do not know. To emphasize, Mozilla calls this Firefox Quantum.

Mozilla has spent a lot of money and effort on many projects, eventually not going anywhere (mobile OS, IoT device, video integrated in chat application .). They also encounter many internal disturbances but it is not helpful to pay attention to them. Importantly, they came back and focused on the important thing.

Over the past few years, engineers at Mozilla have been working hard for a number of projects and eventually they have brought results. Although longer than expected, with Quantum, Mozilla is bringing a browser to install.

Many updates on Quantum have come from the Servo test browser. Servos are not intended to be released as a separate project, but only for future Firefox testing. The engine is written in Rust, the programming language that Mozilla developed for this purpose.

The project took a long time to come when picking sweet fruits

This means that unlike previous versions, Firefox Quantum can now take advantage of all CPU cores, especially with the CSS engine that plays a major role in fast web rendering. If ideal, this also means Firefox will consume less memory (less than Chrome).

The group also launched a new interface for this release. For example, the rounded tab is gone. The new interface focuses on simplicity and speed. As in previous versions, users can still edit the interface to their liking but still look good on a high-resolution screen and work better on a touchscreen laptop.

Mozilla continues to support the integration of Pocket even though not everyone likes this. Firefox Quantum also has an integrated screen capture tool and a centralized reading mode.

Quanttum is expected by many very attractive features

If you have used the Nightly version you will see the difference between the new version and the old Firefox is the night mode. Running faster and brighter will make you want to use Firefox as your default browser when you have a Stable version. Still, there will be more or less things that make you unsatisfied. For example, why does LastPass not release a compatible version of Firefox 57 Beta plug-in .

Is Firefox Quantum better than Chrome? No, but they are equal and the choice is based on personal assessment only. You may like a browser of an independent party, regardless of Google.

Firefox 57 Stable will be released on November 14. Until then, you can try out new features on Beta and Developer.
