iPhone has strange alarm problem
Apple acknowledged reliability issues with the iPhone's built-in alarm feature last April following a report from NBC's Today morning show and said it was working on a fix, but some people are still having issues. Android Authority points to this Reddit post from Wednesday by bryanlolwut in the r/iPhone subreddit, which shows an iPhone with an alarm set for 10:30 a.m. that instead goes off at 12:42 p.m. — the time shown on the Apple Watch.
As of Thursday, many Reddit users were still commenting on the discussion thread, saying they were experiencing similar issues.
'My morning alarm is showing as going off but it doesn't make any sound and there's been no response for 40 minutes ,' said Slawek_Zupa. Another post said their alarm went off at 5pm when it was supposed to go off at 7am.
The reports in today's discussion thread include people still on iOS 17 and others who have updated to iOS 18 with Apple Intelligence.
Some people have said they've tried turning off Apple's Attention Awareness feature, which can lower the volume of alarms when your iPhone detects your face. But that doesn't solve the problem for many people, and you lose features like being able to see all notifications on the lock screen.
