Instructions on how to remove the cooling fan of the standard CPU LGA775
The cooling fan is a part that helps keep the CPU's temperature stable when the computer is operating. After a period of use, if this part is damaged and does not work well, it will cause the CPU to overheat, resulting in the computer slow down or stop working (hanging). The fan must be removed to repair or replace the cooling fan. This article will show you how to remove the cooling fan of the LGA775 standard CPU.
How to remove the cooling fan of the standard CPU LGA775
Unplug the fan control wire from the docking station on the motherboard with the symbol CPU_FAN .
Unplug the fan's power cord from the docking station on the motherboard
Turn the fan locking pins counterclockwise.
Turn the fan locking pins counterclockwise
Remove the two diagonal locking pins at the same time from the holes on the motherboard to make sure they don't move. Do the same thing again with the other two latches.
Remove two diagonal locking pins at the same time from the holes on the Mainboard
Check that the locking pins have been removed from the holes on the motherboard, then you can lift the fan from the motherboard.
Lift the fan off the motherboard.
In some cases, the fan is stuck to the back of the CPU due to the heatsink, the fan can be rotated slightly to help remove it easily.
After removing the fan, you must rotate the locking pins clockwise to restore these locking pins to their original position, then you can install the fan again later.
Turn the locking pin ends clockwise
After removing the fan from the mainboard, clean the heatsink on the CPU's back and on the fan's heatsink surface. You can now repair or replace the fan then put it back on the motherboard. See the instructions Instructions on how to assemble the cooling fan for the standard CPU LGA775
