Do not use the bold feature on iPhone to hide sensitive information and this is the reason
With just a few photo editing tips, the masked information will appear.
M1ghty_boy, a member on Reddit recently posted a video showing the details covered with the Highlighter feature of the image editing tool on iOS can be easily seen with just a few manipulate image editing such as increasing the contrast, editing dark and light areas.
Highlighter is one of the features of the image editing tool on iOS, allowing users to highlight a text area for viewers to focus more on it.
However, many users today often use Highlighter to hide some sensitive information such as name, date of birth, flight tickets . Basically, this feature does its job well to cover up that information, but with only a few photo editing tips, the masked information will appear.
This is because the opacity of the upper highlight tool is not set to 100%. So that black layer can easily be seen through to see what is hidden below. Apple didn't create a tool to hide sensitive information, so it's not a bug or security issue.
Users are also advised not to use the Highlighter feature to conceal personal information. If you need to cover sensitive information, use other blur tools or increase the opacity to 100%.
