Starting Sunday night (April 16), the famous virus authoring team Bagle transmitted a new spam dispersal tool, originating from a server located in Slovakia, to thousands of computers being controlled. .
Mikko Hypponen, research director at Finnish security company F-Secure, said that if the PC is infected with Bagle, hackers can download many other dangerous software to the computer. After that, these programs will send spam to other systems that the user is unaware of.
Once the computer is under control, cyber criminals can change the software they install at any time. "The method of upgrading this attack tool is the same as the way Microsoft updates Windows," Hypponen said.
The new Bagle download link hidden in the real estate website has been removed yesterday. However, only after hours, this link was transferred to a French website with a server located in the US and it still works. F-Secure is contacting an Internet service provider to block the connection.
