Apple does not force iOS 14 users to update to iOS 15
Instead, Apple said that when iOS 15 launches, iOS 14 users will have two update options. The first option is to "upgrade" to iOS 15 to enjoy the latest changes, updates, features, and security patches. The second option is to stick with iOS 14 but stay updated with security patches until you're ready to install the latest version of the operating system.
iOS users are often afraid to upgrade to a new iOS version for fear of encountering annoying errors such as battery drain, overheating, etc. iOS users can still choose not to update iOS to the latest version. However, that means they won't receive security updates. Therefore, this change of Apple is very welcome.
This is also the first time Apple does not force users to update to the latest iOS version and it is only applied in the framework between iOS 14 and iOS 15. Therefore, users who are using devices with iOS 12 or 13 will still have to upgrade to iOS 14 or 15 if they want to receive security updates.
Currently, the first beta version of iOS 15 is being released to developers. It is expected that in July the public beta of iOS 15 will be released to everyone. The official iOS 15 version will be released this fall along with the new iPhone line.
