Americans are banned from using password 1234 to ensure safety
The proportion of users using weak passwords, constantly revealing sensitive information is increasing in the US, a technology powerhouse.
According to 2018 data, there are thousands of employees using technology equipment in the United States because they do not care about passwords, so they have leaked sensitive information to the outside. About 50% of all accounts currently use weak passwords, and many users are not interested in these security issues.
Currently, there are many manufacturers that only use a short default password for devices sold. In the meantime, there are also many customers after purchasing the device to use the same device without changing the password.
It is for these reasons that the California government has decided to ban such silly and easy passwords as "1234" since 2020 to protect users from security risks and overcome weaknesses. network security.
A new draft has been adopted requiring all technology brands to have stricter standards for creating passwords for equipment / service platforms from the beginning. The code consists of two terms: First, if the product password is previously installed by default, it must be confirmed that the user must change the password the first time he or she uses it. Secondly, if manufacturers do not follow these new laws, especially when there is a risk of hacking, the user has the right to sue them.
This new law will officially be enforced starting January 1, 2020.
According to Spencer, many people choose simple and easy-to-guess phrases like "abcd1234", "123", "password", "password01", "password123" . as password.
