Alexa.com is about to close because of few visitors

On midweek, Amazon announced plans to shut down its global website ranking system and competitor analysis tool 'Alexa.com' after 25 years of operation.

Alexa.com is a subsidiary of Amazon and it is widely known for its global ranking system, which uses web traffic data from partners to list popular internet companies.

In addition to a global queuing system, Amazon's Alexa.com also offers a complete set of SEO tools and competitor analysis for paid users.

For the average user, Alexa.com is a very useful tool to track parameters such as traffic, traffic origin and other useful information about their website.

In the support document as well as on the Alexa.com homepage, Amazon announced that it will be shutting down Alexa.com from May 1, 2022. From that point forward, the monthly statistics table will also not be published.

"25 years ago, we founded Alexa Interet. After two decades of helping you find, reach, and transform your digital audience, we made the difficult decision to shut down Alexa.com on May 1, 2022. Thank you for giving us your resources for content research, competitive analysis, keyword research.", Amazon stated.

Amazon has now stopped allowing new signups, and existing customers still have access to Amazon data and SEO tools. After the deadline of May 1, 2022, access rights will be revoked. Amazon APIs will be discontinued on December 8, 2022.

Why did Amazon decide to close Alexa.com? According to data from Semrush, a SaaS platform that manages online visibility, Alexa.com's organic traffic has been steadily declining. Therefore, it is likely that Amazon has stopped providing this service because its popularity has decreased significantly.

It's ironic that the website that counts traffic for sites that are about to be closed because of few visitors.
