After Apple, Samsung also caught the suspicion of slowing down old smartphones
Samsung is being investigated by the Italian antitrust agency, accusing it of slowing down its old smartphones by releasing software updates, causing their devices to be jerky and lagged when used and forced to buy new devices.
In a statement, the watchdog said both Samsung and Apple did not inform customers that these updates could slow down their devices. This makes the two companies violate four separate articles in the regulation of national consumer codes. Both Samsung and Apple are at risk of paying millions of euros to pay a fine if convicted by the court.
Last month, Apple admitted to slowing down the old iPhone and apologizing to customers and reducing the cost of replacing the battery to $ 29. In addition, Apple said it will offer an update to show users the status of their phone's battery and check if their device is in a slowdown state.
This is the first time Samsung has been implicated in this allegation and currently has no feedback from the company about the incident.
