Viettel successfully tested a dedicated 5G network at a factory in Hai Phong

On July 20, 2023, the Military Industry and Telecommunications Group (Viettel) announced the successful test of a 5G private network (5G Private Mobie Network - 5G PMN) at the Pegatron electrical equipment and components factory, the first smart factory in Vietnam to be automated based on the connection of 5G mobile services.

5G PMN is a dedicated mobile network that provides connected mobile services for specialized devices or machines that need real-time connectivity for organizations and individuals in need.

Viettel provides 5G private network for 5 applications in the first phase of cooperation with Pegatron. It is expected to provide 5G private network for thousands of devices at the factory by the end of 2023, including applications for production lines (Assembly Station); application of augmented reality technology for video calls on Public Cloud (public cloud computing); Direct supervision of the production process; Manage product testing.

5G PMN will help Pegatron reduce fine control of processes by collecting detailed information and data in real time, reducing labor accidents, improving the working environment while reducing costs, increasing productivity, and increasing profits.

Private 5G network is a new trend of the world, playing an important role in promoting development in many fields such as: smart city, manufacturing, energy, oil and gas, mining, transportation. Especially, 5G PMN is effective for businesses with factories, warehouses, ports, airports, etc., which requires a secure connection, which current wifi cannot meet.

It is known that Viettel has covered 5G in 58/63 provinces. Pegatron is the first factory to put this technology into the production line to build a smart factory model in Vietnam.
