The reason why Huawei smartphones cannot download VLC Media Player on Google Play and how to fix it

To optimize the battery life on its smartphones, Huawei has decided to completely turn off the background running application on these devices. The solution of the world's third largest mobile phone manufacturer makes the background applications such as VLC unable to function normally on its smartphones.

Immediately after the move of Huawei, many users of VLC applications have reflected and complained to non-profit organization VideoLAN (father of VLC application) about VLC not working as expected on their smartphones.

Last July 25, VideoLAN announced on Twitter the decision to put almost all Huawei-branded smartphones on their blacklist. This is considered to be VideoLAN's tough response to Huawei's decision.

VideoLAN adds that not all Huawei-branded smartphones are prohibited from downloading VLC. Only the recent Huawei product smartphones are listed on this blacklist, and older smartphones will still be able to access Google Play to download VLC normally.

For users who are using a Huawei smartphone that has been blacklisted by VideoLAN, it is not necessary to worry about downloading VLC from Google Play. There is still another way for them to download this application without worrying about being banned, which is to visit the official website of VideoLAN and download VLC with APK files. However, the application will not be able to automatically update and download new versions.
