Android is an open source Linux-based operating system originally designed for mobile phones. However, to date, experts predict Android will be exploited on other devices, such as cheap netbooks.
The world's largest computer maker also said it is considering using Android operating systems in new netbooks. However, the company's leader did not claim to sell Android netbooks in the near future. Meanwhile, Taiwanese computer maker Asus said it will produce Android netbooks, and Dell is considering producing smartphones using the Android operating system.
Android is an open platform that is quite attractive to manufacturers because it is completely free, while Microsoft charges the Windows license very expensive. To save costs, firms will cut costs as much as possible. Therefore, it is understandable to give up Windows to find Android.
