Sony paved the way for the PlayStation Now platform
Sony will not continue to support PlayStation Mobile on mobile devices running Android 4.4.3 or higher. This is a move to pave the way for the PlayStation Now mobile game platform.
This action does not mean that Sony will abandon this game service on mobile devices, but the reason given is to prepare for the launch of PlayStation Now, a crowd-based mobile gaming platform. The cloud has been demonstrated at CES 2014. However, devices running the operating system from Andnroid 4.4.2 KitKat or below still continue to use the normal PlayStation Mobile service.
For devices running Android 4.4.3 KitKat and above, some of the functions of the PlayStation Mobile service such as accessing and downloading previously saved content will no longer work. Sony also wants to reduce the development of games on PlayStation Mobile and wants manufacturers to focus on the new service PlayStation Now.
This move will more or less affect a certain number of users, but Sony has assured that the PlayStation Now will soon be released in the near future with more features than the old service.
