Sony announces DualSense, the new handheld model for PlayStation 5
Sony has just officially launched a brand new gaming controller that comes with the PlayStation 5 system called DualSense. It can be said that this is the most special PlayStation controller that Sony has ever built, not only because of the newly equipped features, but also in the landmark design with many extremely valuable improvements.
Let's talk about design first, it's clear that this DualSense controller looks very different from previous generation PlayStation controllers. DualSense owns 2 tones, instead of 1 as before which is quite monotonous. Sony has also made some changes in the shape of the device in the grip area, face buttons and corners that make the controller look more rounded than before. However, this design gives better ergonomics, according to the manufacturer's announcement.
The design of the light bar has also been changed and now it wraps around the edge of the touchpad, instead of sitting just above it like previous versions. The buttons on the DualSense face towards the simpler design, not 'colorful' as before, but still retain the subtlety.
Dualsense handleComes to remarkable new features. Certain haptic feedback is possible, replacing the old rumble technology, combined with adaptive triggers in R2 and L2 buttons, to enable other effects. Depending on the actual context of the game, promises to bring a more realistic experience, such as "sluggishness and inertia when you drive through a muddy puddle" - as described by Sony.
Sony has also changed the Share button, first introduced in DualShock 4, to the Create button. The ultimate goal, however, is not much different - providing gamers new ways to create and share gaming content directly via the controller.
Finally, DualSense is equipped with an integrated microphone, enabling and using in-game voice chat features without using a headset. Along with that is the USB-C port for greater flexibility.
The price of DualSense has not been disclosed.
