Silent Hill f PC Configuration
Survival horror fans are having a banner year. Not only are we getting a perfect remake of the legendary Silent Hill 2, but we're also getting the first new entry in the series since 2012.
This time, we're moving away from the haunted fictional town of Silent Hill to a new, equally creepy setting: the fictional town of Ebisugaoka, Japan. It's an exciting change, promising a completely different environment design and terrifying new monsters, said to reflect the protagonist's inner self.
Before we dive deeper into the setting and gameplay, let's take a look at the system requirements to play Silent Hill f.
Silent Hill f minimum system requirements
If your computer is not too powerful, here is the most basic configuration level to play the game:
- Operating System: Windows 11 (64-bit)
- CPU: Intel Core i5-8400 or AMD Ryzen 5 2600
- RAM: 16 GB
- Graphics Card (GPU): Nvidia GTX 1070 Ti or AMD RX 5700
- Storage capacity: 50 GB
- DirectX: Version 12
Silent Hill f recommended system requirements
Here is the configuration the manufacturer recommends for the best experience:
- Operating System: Windows 11 (64-bit)
- CPU: Intel Core i7-9700 or AMD Ryzen 5 5500
- RAM: 16 GB
- Graphics Card (GPU): Nvidia RTX 2080 or AMD RX 6800 XT
- Storage capacity: 50 GB
- DirectX: Version 12
Usually we have to guess, but not this time. Silent Hill f's Steam page has detailed information about the performance you can expect from the above configuration levels.
Minimum Requirements: You can play the game at "Performance quality settings" at 30 frames per second (FPS) at 720p resolution. This is quite low and may not provide the best experience.
With the recommended settings, you can play at "Performance settings" at 60 FPS or "Quality settings" at 30 FPS at Full HD resolution. If you want to play at 4K resolution, the game will need technologies like DLSS to achieve the desired performance.
Notably, both configuration levels recommend using an SSD hard drive. This is an indispensable element for a modern gaming PC, helping to significantly reduce game loading times.
Additionally, we also recommend that you get 32GB of RAM instead of 16GB. 16GB is only enough for 'minimal' gaming, while 32GB or even 64GB will provide more experiences and benefits, not just in gaming.
If you can afford it, consider upgrading your monitor, the Silent Hill series is known for its detailed, realistic graphics and extremely dark atmosphere. An OLED screen will make the horror experience more vivid and terrifying than ever.
What game is Silent Hill f?
Silent Hill is often described as 'survival horror.' While true, that phrase doesn't quite capture the essence of the game.
In addition to the horror elements, the game also has a deep psychological layer, with many symbols and hidden meanings embedded in the design, story and environment. Everything creates a heavy, oppressive atmosphere that strongly affects the player. When this series is done well, it reaches the heights of Silent Hill 2.
Silent Hill f looks like it's going to be a strong return, with trailers, images, and artwork evoking a slow, melancholy exploration of a new setting, interspersed with terrifying battles. This is the inherent identity of the game series.
The setting in Japan is a novelty, giving it a completely different look and feel than previous installments. For Western players, this cultural unfamiliarity can add to the sense of dread.
Whether you're a long-time fan or a complete newcomer, Silent Hill f is sure to be a horror treat. For the most terrifying experience, try playing the game in a dark room. However, it may not be for the faint of heart.
