Design and quality of RØDE Wireless GO
The first thing you'll notice soon after opening the box: RØDE Wireless GO is actually the world's smallest wireless audio system. Previously, all previous sound systems were about the size of 2 decks. RDE Wireless GO is a two-part system:
There is an RX receiver, using the included 3.5 mm TRS cable to plug into any device that accepts micro TRS inputs, such as a camera. The RX receiver itself has no built-in memory or recording function.
In addition, there is a TX transmitter, wirelessly connected to the RX receiver using the 2.4GHz band (more details on the pairing process will be available in the section below). The TX transmitter has a built-in omnidirectional microphone (so you don't need to buy a separate mic), receiving a 3.5mm input, is perfect for plugging in a mic.
The body of both TX and RX is made of high quality plastic, glossy and beautiful surface. Both have clips, which allow you to attach them to clothes, bags, or anything else, and are quite sure. The control buttons are also very nice and bring a comfortable feeling when pressed.
Overall, although RØDE Wireless GO has a very light weight, the structure of this product is quite good and suitable for many practical use situations.
Availability and performance of RØDE Wireless GO
The RØDE Wireless GO works so simply that there is no need to use the supplied manual as other products, only a quick picture guide is printed on the box. You don't even need instructions to set everything up. However, for those who have never used a sound system like this before, setting up without instructions will make them feel a bit confused.
The pairing process is extremely simple. As soon as you turn on both TX and RX, they will automatically pair. If you have multiple systems, you can do it manually by holding the pairing button on the RX until it enters pairing mode, then press the Ø button on the TX you want to pair. It's done!
RØDE Wireless GO's ability to support multiple systems is limited to 8 pairs simultaneously, due to limitations of 2.4GHz wireless band. In fact, note that the 2.4GHz band is similar to the frequency band used by WiFi connections and you may experience interference in densely populated areas (such as apartments in large cities). due to WiFi congestion.
Each TX-RX pair has an operating range of up to 230 feet (70m), more than enough for any type of YouTube video, even videos that force you to go out. And although the official specs indicate that the signal is required to be transmitted directly, in fact audio transmission still works well even when it comes to crossing many walls.
In terms of weight, the TX transmitter and RX receiver are very light, perfect for performing tasks during trips. The accompanying windshield is a great highlight for outdoor recording, but even if you only record at home, this super light weight makes it more comfortable to work.
And with the clips attached, you can mount RØDE Wireless GO anywhere.
The RX receiver has no pins attached directly to the camera. Instead, just plug it into the microphone port and let it hang. The receiver has a light weight, so there's no need to worry that it will damage the microphone port, but it doesn't look very nice. If you don't like the receiver hanging like that, you can use tape to attach it to the camera.
The sound quality from the built-in TX transmitter microphone is not too bad. You should use it with a micro-shirt, because that RØDE Wireless GO system really promotes every strong point.
Estimated battery life is 7 hours. The RØDE Wireless GO comes with two USB-C-to-USB-A cables, allowing you to charge both TX and RX at the same time. However, there is no charger included, so you will have to use the computer when charging TX and RX.
The RØDE Wireless GO is currently priced at $ 199 (4,637,000 VND). If you buy a cheap micro-shirt, the total amount you pay will be about $ 219 (VND 5,115,000). For comparison, you can refer to the RØDE RodeLink movie making tool kit included with the receiver, the transmitter and the microphone set for $ 399 (9,320,000 VND). Of course RodeLink is a bit more advanced, but the functionality of these two products is basically the same and Wireless GO is only half the price of RodeLink.
Wireless GO is so small and light that you can put it in your pocket, bring it anywhere you want. Honestly, RØDE Wireless GO is an extremely useful tool for YouTuber.
