Review Google Home Hub: An indispensable device for a smart home
In 2015, Amazon was the first major tech company to start making smart home devices. Since then, Amazon's smart home product line has been the driving force for voice assistants from a science fiction dream to come true.
But Amazon is not the only tech company that makes top smart home products. Google has also quickly jumped into the game.
Today, the Google Home Hub is some of the best smart home devices on the market. Join TipsMake.com to evaluate the details of this product through the following article.
Price
The Google Home Hub was released on October 22, 2018 for $ 149 (VND 3,450,000).
The Google Home Hub is not only relatively cheap compared to Google Home, but also its main rival Amazon Echo Show.
Design
The dimensions of the Home Hub are 178.5 x 118 x 67.3mm, surprisingly small. The screen is about the size of a large phone or a small tablet. The base is quite small (you can easily pick it up and put it in your palm).
The screen is positioned at a comfortable tilt on the base. The aesthetics are enhanced by colorful bezels: Pink, Black, White and Blue.
At the back, you'll find a power input, volume control buttons and a switch to mute the mic.
The Home Hub doesn't have a camera, instead you'll find a light sensor.
A light sensor allows the device to reduce the brightness level when a dark room is detected. Google calls the speaker recognition feature 'Ambient EQ'. Not only does it adjust the brightness to suit the room, but it can actually change the color temperature and turn the screen surface into a clock when it's time to turn off the lights.
Setup and Google Assistant
First, you will need to set up your new device. For Google Home Hub, you will need the Google Home app. Then, click on the plus icon under the Home heading and the app will search for all devices manufactured by Google nearby. The whole setup process only takes a few minutes.
Google supports many devices, including some popular TV manufacturers like Sony, LG and Vizio, manufacturers of smart lights like Philips Hue, LIFX and TP-Link, and many manufacturers of thermostatic regulators. intelligent, typical Ecobee, Honeywell, Lux, etc.
However, the devices that work best with the Google Home Hub are the Nest lineup, including smart thermostats, smart security cameras and video doorbells.
In addition to the tangible products integrated with Google Assistant, there are plenty of apps and services that work here. This list includes major Google products such as Google Calendar and Google Play Music, in addition to applications such as Spotify, HBO Now, Uber, NPR, ESPN, Walmart, Target, etc.
In fact, one of the biggest changes that Google has made since its launch is the integration of YouTube Music into the device, allowing you to stream music on demand for no extra charge or subscription (but yes. advertisement).
Efficiency
The Google Home Hub borrowed a lot of visual properties from Android TV. Google has intuitively sought every search term on the planet. For almost everything to be searched, there is usually at least one related image and some basic information attached to it.
Major Google services, like YouTube, Photos, and Maps, have been optimized to provide both audio and visual feedback based on voice search commands. Even some third party services work very well.
YouTube is one of the important Home Hub services. The Google Cast function of the Home Hub allows you to stream videos to a TV or Chromecast.
Home View, installs a user interface that displays all connected devices in the house. Ambient EQ and Google Photos screensaver are the most innovative features from a performance standpoint so far.
However, YouTube videos do not offer the best quality (both in picture and audio) on the Home Hub.
If you're more interested in controlling your smart devices than watching movies or making video calls, the Google Home Hub is the right choice for you.
