Today Facebook has released a new notification function based on the face recognition system. Specifically, you will receive a notification when you appear in another person's photo even if the person doesn't tag you. This increases user privacy, they can know what is happening to them.
If your face appears, Facebook will notify you and allow you to choose:
- Tag yourself if you like.
- Send a notice to the photo uploader for them to remove.
- Ignore, do nothing.
Facebook's algorithm is very smart, it can distinguish people in the subject to send notifications and ignore those who accidentally appear in the picture.
If you do nothing, Facebook will ignore it after announcing a 3-time appearance on your News Feed.
All global Facebook users except Europe and Canada apply this new feature and begin to work with images uploaded starting from today onwards.
For Facebook users who are disabled or unable to see, the app can read to them who are in the picture and give warnings about uploaded photos in their presence.
