At the Ignite 2017 conference on Tuesday, Microsoft announced an OneDrive update with a new user interface and advanced sharing options. The most notable improvements are the web interface and the Files On-Demand feature. New sharing features will be applied to Windows, Mac and Web operating systems for a more consistent experience. This feature will support external sharing without the need for a Microsoft account. The new sharing framework allows users to share selected documents with specific people or people in an organization.

Here are some other changes in the OneDrive update that Microsoft announced:

  • Fully supporting the workflow through Microsoft Flow in OneDrive will be deployed later this year.
  • Release Self Service Migration Toolkit for users who want to migrate from shared drives or other cloud-based services to OneDrive.
  • Updated for mobile customers - bringing great new functions from its website to mobile devices.
  • Easily and quickly see shared content with others and see who has access to that content.
  • Support OneDrive On-Premise customers on both Windows and Android platforms.
  • Zip file support - You can open Zip files in web view to quickly see the contents inside and select the files you want to extract.
  • Support NGSC (next generation sync client) in SharePoint 2019.
