Microsoft teases Surface Copilot+ PC launch next week
Microsoft is holding a Surface event next week on May 6. The official Microsoft Surface account on X teased the launch of the PC Copilot+, saying to stay tuned next week with an emoji, arousing the curiosity of the tech world. According to recent reports, Microsoft is likely to release a compact Surface laptop.
Earlier, information about a smaller Surface laptop appeared on Geekbench with a low-end Snapdragon X chipset. It comes with a 12-inch display and integrates a Snapdragon X processor (X1P-42-100) inside. The device is said to score 1,462 points in single-core and 9,251 points in multi-core on the Geekbench CPU test.
Rumors suggest that Microsoft is preparing to replace the Surface Go and Surface Laptop Go with two smaller Surface Copilot+ PCs, namely the Surface Pro and Surface Laptop. During its latest Q3 earnings call, Microsoft did not report separate Surface revenue, so it's unclear how the Surface line is doing.
Microsoft recently released Surface laptops with Intel Lunar Lake chips for business customers. And last year, it launched Surface laptops with Snapdragon X processors for consumers. Now, with the smaller Surface laptops, Microsoft seems to be targeting mobile devices like the iPad Pro.
Based on the initial specs, it looks like the new Surface devices will be cheaper and more portable, with good performance and better battery life.
