Microsoft launches new Media Player application for Windows 11

The new Media Player will have a new look and feel similar to Windows 11. Music collections stored on your device will be displayed on the new Media Player.

The new Media Player includes a fully featured music folder, allowing you to quickly find your favorite songs and play them. Of course, you can also create and manage your own playlists. Collections in the Groove Music app will also be automatically migrated to the new Media Player.

The music playback screen is also very unique with impressive album covers and artist images. With Media Player you will also have the option to play full screen or mini player depending on your preference.

In addition to music, the new Media Player also has full support for browsing, managing and viewing video collections stored on your device. Microsoft has optimized the accessibility of this application, improved keyboard shortcuts, and provided a number of other assistive technologies.

In the future, Microsoft may offer new ways to browse music and video collections for users. Stream management features will also appear.

The new Media Player is currently only available to users who join the Windows 11 Insider Dev channel. Microsoft hasn't revealed when the app will be made available to other Insider channels, and it's unclear when it will be available to all users.
