Google has just released statistics of Android versions being used by users around the world in June. Accordingly, the latest version of KitKat is now available on nearly 18% of total Android devices.

The number of devices using KitKat increased by 4.3% to 17.9%. Although Android 4.2 increased slightly, in general, Jelly Bean version still decreased in number of users to 56.5%. Gingerbread and Ice Cream Sandwich versions also witnessed the same thing when they fell to 13.5% and 11.4% respectively. In the end, the " ancient " Froyo version lost 0.1% but is still present in the list when accounting for 0.7% of the current Android devices.

You will not see Android L appear on this list because this fall, the next version of Android will be officially released. Moreover, Android L also needs to have fewer faces on at least 0.1% of devices to be included in Google statistics. It is very difficult to happen at the moment because Android L only has a test version on 3 devices: Nexus 4 , Nexus 5 and Nexus 7 2013 .

Looking back at the old versions of Android, it is not clear whether Gingerbread or Ice Cream Sandwich will disappear before. This is just a matter of time because older devices are now limited in hardware, and manufacturers have no incentive to offer software upgrades. In addition, the Android user community also tried to update itself with prepared ROMs, making older versions more and more rare.
