iPhone 2018 will only use Intel modems, leaving Qualcomm out

MacRumors and 9to5Mac reported the latest news from analyst KGI Ming Chi Kuo that the next iPhone will only use network modems from Intel. This helped Apple no longer depend on Qualcomm and somewhat increased tension between the current lawsuit between Apple and Qualcomm.

One of the lawsuits between the two companies was initiated by Qualcomm, accusing Apple of illegally sharing their proprietary code with Intel. Kuo's opinion is quite similar to the idea that Apple and Intel are getting along well.

However, Intel's monopoly is not expected to last long because Apple still sent a few requests to Qualcomm to negotiate and try to end the legal dispute between the two.

Regardless of whose chips, users can still look forward to improvements on the upcoming iPhone

Apple is also famous for rarely relying too much on a single supplier, with a history of screen providers and components being very diverse. Whenever possible, they build and design their own components in the device like they did CPU and GPU recently.

These post-scenes changes do not generally affect the end-users. We can still expect LTE faster on the new iPhone even if the chip vendor is Intel or Qualcomm. That will be a necessary step to catch up with Samsung Galaxy S9 and their Exynos 9 chip, which also promises faster mobile network connectivity.
