The source code for iOS is revealed on GitHub as 'real goods', this is the time to reveal the biggest information in history
A user shared with GitHub a source code named "iBoot", an important component of the iPhone's operating system, responsible for making sure that the operating system has a guaranteed boot time. security And according to the expert, this code is 'real goods'.
In simple terms, this "iBoot" is the program to download iOS to the iPhone, which is the first step when you turn on the iPhone. This program will check if the kernel is not Apple, before proceeding to turn on the device. This is the iPhone's BIOS.
The code exposed on GitHub belongs to iOS 9, an older version than the Apple system that is using but more likely, many parts of the code are still used in the latest iOS 11 version. Currently, this code has been removed from GitHub.
Jonathan Levin, author of a series of books on the parts of iOS and Mac OSX, said, " This is the time to reveal the biggest information in history." According to Levin, this code looks similar to an iBooot code.
Another security researcher who knows iOS well says that this is Apple's code.
A code is revealed.
With this source code, hackers, every security researcher can find the weakness of iOS, the system that is supposed to be extremely secure. In the short term, this big hole will make jailbreak easier. And this is also the key to unlocking an iPhone that is no longer as difficult as it is today.
This leak of information could mean tethered jailbreak revival. Previously, tethered jailbreaking was quite easy, but for future devices it became more and more difficult. Therefore, the jailbreak community is nearly wiped out and whenever any code is leaked, they are excited to dig in to find new gaps.
This iBoot source code has been posted by an unnamed Reddit user with an account that has been posted since last year but has been forgotten. But with the testimonials of two iOS researchers, security experts and jailbreak experts go to hacker groups that will definitely not miss the opportunity to research and make use of it.
Currently, Apple has not released any comment.
