How to share memories on Google Photos as video files
While Google Photos' Memories feature has always been a fun element of the app, sharing those memories with others has been a bit of a pain. Thankfully, that's changing. Because now you can edit Google Photos Memories and share them as video files.
You can now share Memories outside of Google Photos
In 2019, Google added Memories to the Photos app. Memories is a Stories-like feature that highlights past moments, specific days, or photos that have something in common.
Google has been trying to make Memories easier to share over time, recognizing that people want to share these moments with their family and friends. However, sharing photo slideshows outside of the app has never been easy for anyone who doesn't use Google Photos.
But that's all changed now. As first spotted by Smartdroid, Google Photos now lets you share Memories as a video file, which saves recipients from having to click on a link and takes them straight to the Google Photos app.
Share Google Photos memories as video files
Now, if you see a memory you want to share, you can make some edits before sharing the entire photo slideshow as a video file. All you have to do is tap the Share button and select Share Memory .
You can then share that memory as it is, including all the photos and the default name. Or, click Edit to rename and/or delete some photos and/or turn on or off the music that plays below it.
Once you're done, you can share that memory in Google Photos or on any other social media or messaging app you want to mention. And since the memory is sent as a video file, it can be played immediately.
Share your Google Photos memories with more people
Honestly, being able to easily share your Google Photos memories with anyone right now only does one thing: It encourages you to share them with more people.
It's unclear why it took Google so long to add the ability to share Photos Memories as a video file. It's possible that the company wants to force people to use Google Photos instead. Still, it's a great addition to an already great feature.
