How to Cure Vampirism in Skyrim

You can get vampirism in Skyrim by fighting vampires or siding with the Volkihar Clan in the Dawnguard expansion. The vampiric trait increases your magic and resistance stats, but at the same time reduces your abilities during the day and increases your damage when exposed to fire. There are many ways to cure this disease before complete transformation, such as taking special medicine or praying at the shrine. To undo it after officially becoming a vampire, you need to do the 'Rising At Dawn' quest requested by Falion in Morthal.

Understand how vampirism is transmitted. You can contract Sanguinare Vampiris when fighting vampires. You will then have 3 in-game days to heal before officially becoming a vampire. Once you become a vampire, these treatments will no longer be possible and you will have to go see Falion.

A notification will appear in the lower left corner showing that you are infected with Sanguinare Vampiris (if applicable). You can always apply one of the basic cures right after fighting a vampire just to be safe.

Once the screen displays the message that you are thirsty for blood or your skin burns in the light, these treatments will no longer be effective.

Use special medication. These potions are located all over the world, you can buy them at alchemy shops or crafting shops. The Silver Hands and Vigilants of Stendarr also often leave this potion behind after being killed.

At stores, supplies are almost random and medicines are not always in stock.

To craft, ingredients with healing properties are Charred Skeever Hide, Felsaad Tern Feathers DR, Hawk Feathers, Mudcrab Chitin, Vampire Dust.

Pray at the shrine. Every shrine has the ability to heal. You can find them all over the world, especially in temples in big cities.

Ask Vigilant of Stendarr to cure you. They often wander around the world, but are always present in the Hall of the Vigilant. This isolated building is located south of Dawnstar.

Talk to the innkeeper about the rumor until you get the quest 'Rising at Dawn'. Any innkeeper in Skyrim can provide quests, but their answers when asked about rumors are somewhat random. The quest will guide you to meet Falion in Morthal - a vampire researcher.

If the innkeeper doesn't give you a quest, try going to another town or resting for the night. Their answers will sometimes change over time.

This dialogue only takes place after you become a vampire.

While in stage 4 of your transformation (when you go too many days without eating), townspeople (including innkeepers) will attack you on sight. You need to eat or use blood potions to reduce vampire abilities first before you can talk to the innkeeper about the quest.

Talk to Falion in Morthal. He will tell you about the vampire healing ritual, then ask you to bring a filled black soul gem as the next part of the quest.

Morthal is located north of Whiterun. Falion usually resides in his house, which you can find on the map.

Collect black soul gems. Black soul gems are used to trap human souls for the purpose of powerful spells, or in this case, ceremonies. Falion sells hollow black soul gems. Or you can search the dungeon and kill the Necromancer to collect it.

Full of black soul gems. Unlike other soul gems, black gems need to be filled with human souls. You need to kill someone with a weapon imbued with Soul Trap, or cast the Soul Trap spell on them.

Soul Trap books can be purchased from various vendors, including the court wizards in Whiterun and Windhelm, or one of the wizards at the College of Winterhold.

The Scroll of Soul Trap can be purchased from the same vendor who sold the book to you. This is a cash only item and requires no magical mastery.

You can enchant Soul Trap on a weapon if you have already enchanted a weapon with similar properties. Some weapons can be found or purchased around the world.

If you can't imbue the spell or don't want to buy a weapon, you can collect Molag Bal's Mace (Mace of Molag Bal) - a reward for completing the 'House of Horrors' quest. Talk to Tyranus in Markarth to start that quest route.

Bring the filled black soul gem back to Falion. He'll meet you at the summoning circle outside of town.

Meet Falion outside of town. The summoning stones are located just north of town. You must meet him around 5-6 am in the game to start the ritual.

Falion will not perform the ritual if you are not present. This means you can be proactive and don't necessarily have to perform the stone summoning ritual right away.

Wait for the ceremony to end. Falion will perform the ritual and after a short dialogue, you will no longer be a vampire.
