How much does the computer use electricity every month?
Using a computer that consumes electricity is natural but in particular, not everyone knows how much it costs. Many people often take the real power of the source multiplied by the number of hours the computer is used to calculate the power consumption of this electronics. However, in reality this calculation is wrong because when choosing the power capacity for the PC, we must choose the power supply with a maintenance capacity greater than the maximum capacity of the component. Another point to note is that even when the computer performs tasks that require high performance or play games . the power supply rarely runs at full capacity.
Below is a table of average results of power consumption of configurations measured by PC Gamer magazine in real conditions.
Price list of electricity for living electricity group up to the present time.
Already having the average power of each configuration, to calculate the electricity consumed by the computer each month, we can use the simple formula below:
Electricity charge = Average capacity x number of playing days 1 day x number of playing days in month x electricity price.
For example, a mid-range PC, Core i5 non-K and RTX-2060 GPU, use 5 hours per day, for 30 days. So this PC's power consumption in a month is:
250 x 5 x 30 = 37500W = 37.5kW
We will get the electricity price at 2000 VND / kW. Then, the amount of electricity that the computer consumes in 1 month is:
2000 x 37.5 = VND 75000
Applying the above example to other configurations, we get the following result:
Note:
- Above formula does not have a screen. The capacity of the screen is much lower.
- The calculation above is just an example for your reference. In fact, depending on the case, the power consumption of the computer will be different. For example, if you only use your computer to surf the web, watch light movies, the power consumption will be lower than if you play heavy games, run projects, do graphics .
