Firefox with touch interface for Windows 8 will be released in December this year
The note from a recent Mozilla meeting suggested that the Firefox version of Windows 8-style touch interface will be released in December this year.
These notes mention the early beta of Firefox with the Metro interface scheduled for release in September and in January 0 the Beta will appear.
Mozilla added that the touch feature will be the " main factor of Firefox 26" and that it will be officially released on December 10 . For the time being from there, Mozilla will take the time to complete, fix bugs and release test versions of this browser.
Besides Mozilla, Google is also planning to launch Chrome with the Modern / Metro interface to match Windows 8 computers with touch screens. But it is unclear when this version of Chrome will be released.
Expected roadmap of Firefox development with touch interface:
- The 13th build will be completed on August 26.
- The 14th build will be completed on September 10.
- Combine with Aurora (Firefox's experimental browser) 26 on September 16.
- The 15th and 16th builds will be completed, preparing for Preview Release.
- An Aurora Firefox build for Windows will be posted as Metro Preview Release.
- Build 17, still in Aurora, will be used to fix bugs and refine the interface and features.
- After completing 17 builds, it will be included in Firefox Beta on October 28, 2013, provided to users who want to test.
- Build 18 and 19 will be released depending on feedback from Beta users.
- Officially launched Firefox 26 after completing the 20th build on December 10, 2013.
