Microsoft does not provide that feature, but there is a way to change the default white text of the icons on the desktop to black.

First, you must turn off the drop shadow to change the font color of the desktop icon: select Start , Run , type sysdm.cpl and press Enter . Click the Advanced tab, in the Performance box, select the Settings button. Scroll down and uncheck the 'Use drop shadows for icons labels on the desktop' box , then select OK in the windows.

After the operation, all the letters in the icons on the desktop have changed from white to black. To make the black stand out, you can change the background color of the icons.

To change the background color in Vista, right-click on the desktop (desktop), select Personalize . Click Desktop Background, drag the Location bar, select Solid Colors . Click on the white box (if you want white text, select the black square).

In XP, the principles are similar but there is a big difference. After you turn off the drop shadow feature, the icon boxes look very unsightly. If you choose white as the background color (as suggested in Vista), the icons look very bad. Choosing the right background color will improve the beauty of the desktop.

Right-click the desktop, select Properties . Click the Desktop tab, drag the Color bar to the right and select the background color. Choose a color that matches the wallpaper (if available), but if you want a light color, the background color must be bright. Select Apply to see the changes, until you are satisfied.
