Attendance for some operating system platforms will no longer be able to use WhatsApp in the near future
WhatsApp is one of the most popular multi-platform messaging apps in the world today, with support for nearly all of the most popular mobile operating system platforms in the world. IOS, Android, BlackBerry, Windows Phone and Windows 10 Mobile. However, the 'predestined relationship' between WhatsApp and two of these names is coming to an end, that is with Windows Phone and Windows 10 Mobile
The WhatsApp app on Windows Phone and Windows Mobile will stop supporting after December 31. This is not surprising because WhatsApp has made this announcement since May. In addition, the host company, Facebook, has also confirmed that it has stopped announcing all WhatsApp development activities for Windows Phone and Windows 10 Mobile.
Thus, if you are using WhatsApp on Windows Phone or Windows 10 Mobile you should be prepared with two possible situations: Switch to use a device running another operating system or stop using WhatsApp and switch to a messaging app other news. In addition, WhatsApp is no longer available in the app store for either platform.
Besides Windows Phone and Windows 10 Mobile, WhatsApp will also stop working on the following platforms:
- Android 2.3.7 and earlier versions after February 1, 2020.
- iOS 7 and earlier versions after February 1, 2020.
If you choose to stick with the Microsoft ecosystem, downloading and installing the desktop version of the WhatsApp app on a Windows 10 PC will be the only way you can continue using this convenient messaging platform.
In a related report, Facebook is believed to be developing a version of the WhatsApp UWP app for Windows 10 users, but there is currently no information on the launch time of this product.
